Dr Sian Townson is a data scientist, biomechanist and AI risk specialist with 25 years’ experience, and about the same in showjumping, yet she remains an enthusiastic but truly amateur rider. Previously an academic, holding a PhD from Oxford and supervising another 12 PhDs, more recently she helped shape global AI risk regulation, delivered hands-on GenAI and AI models including leading Europe’s fastest pandemic modelling rollout, and co-built a 200-person data science group delivering across tech, health, finance, aviation, energy and government. She has provided AI modelling, biomechanical expertise and horse wrangling for a number of Hollywood films and games, executive leadership and board advice to companies and governments, and acted as an expert witness in a number of forensic cases.
